Fashion Museum Bath

Ok so I've temporarily dropped off the face of the earth.. yes my blogging has become non existent, due to being so so busy with work and uni preparation - which of course is no excuse eh? But the fact that I've been preparing for weeks to be ready to move, hasn't seemed to have made a difference to the fact I feel like the most; un organised, un-prepared and panicked Fashion student in the world! (a little over-exaggerated buy y'know)
This post isn't direct Fashion, just a few pictures of my trip to the Fashion Museum in Bath - It was fabulous.
These pictures are from a temporary exhibition at the museum called, Dressing The Stars. Where there were many costumes used in Film including; Costumes from Pirates of The Caribbean, The Dutchess, Gladiator, Troy, The Kings Speech, Death on the Nile, Shakespeare in Love and many more.
Worn By Orlando Bloom as William Turner

Love the detail on this armour based piece.

I absolutely fell in love with this jacket, taken from the film Shakespeare in Love, Designed by Sandy Powell (Award winner for Best Costume Design 1998) The beautifully designed jacket was so detailed and delicate, I could easily imagine this on the catwalk, Very Hedi Slimane.

And yes I fell in love again with this Tailored piece worn by Emma Tompson in Howards End. Designed by Jenny Beavan and John Bright.

A beautiful intricate detailed gown worn by Swoosie Kurtz in the film Dangerous Liaisons.

The Museum has many different assembly rooms full of Fashion from all era's, also hosting designers including, Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Vera Wang and Versace.
I also got the opportunity to try on a replica 19th Century Corset and Crinoline (I think one of these is needed in every wardrobe now I know how skinny it can make your waist)
(sorry for such bad photo quality)

As well as having rooms of periodic Fashion, they also had a contemporary collection from one of my much loved designers, Helmut Lang. You can shop his collection at NET-A-PORTER
I took many photos but they are all pretty rubbish as his work was displayed behind glass - so I won't bore you all with the reflection blurred photos.

I would highly recommend going to have a look at this museum, it was really interesting and informative - you were able to see so many era's of gorgeous fashion. (and some not so gorgeous)
The Museum paired with Lunch and shopping in Bath city makes a lovely day out.

I hope everyone is well and having a good bank holiday weekend! :)

Season Wants

I'm sure its not just me that internet browses for ages, just to become fixated on things that I CAN'T HAVE!! If only money grew on trees, I would be calling in sick at work tomorrow and be straight off to the shops! Here are a couple of things that are going to break my bank at some stage!
(click for link)

All Saints Anat Chelsea Boots £195
Would make a great add to any collection, could be worn with practically anything, thats why I love them! I love the sculptured shape of the heel - absolutely to die for!

Rocco Satchel by Alexander Wang £795
A classic bag from Wang, love the textured leather and signature studs.

Dolce and Gabbana Sling Back Wedges
As seen on the gorgeous Rumi from Fashiontoast, These shoes are just amazing! The biggest want of my summer list! Rumi wears with dresses, jeans, everything. These are unfortunately unavailable now to buy from Dolce and Gabbana :( But I will defiantly be keeping my eye out for these on Ebay! Check out Rumi's Blog www.fashiontoast.com to see more of her fabulous outfits

I just can't get enough of these gorgeous shoesies!!
(Jeffery Campbell does a similar style but they don't seem to have such a killer wedge! which is partially why I love them!)

Daisy Knights

I recently discovered a british jewellery designer, Daisy Knights. She studied at Central Saint Martins, and her jewellery is amazing! She uses many recycled metals and combines rock 'n' roll with rustic nature. My favourite collection is called 'Kim' This skull ring is recyled sterling silver and handcrafted. £77 (also available in 22-karat gold vermeil)

Mini Marc Jacobs Obsession

Well I like to think of it as mini, but in fact I think my obsession has become pretty massive! Although the price tags aren't exactly 'mini' The quality is well worth the money and it defiantly makes them a good investment, and if not for their quality, they're so god damn gorgeous?!  I particulary love the classic Marc by Marc Jacob purse, featuring his signature 'Standard Supply' plaque detailing. £155 (click for link)
This timeless grainy leather purse is just a must have! will it replace my replica Mulberry Daria purse?!
To compliment the purse perfectly,  Marc By Marc Jacobs collection have the most amazing hobo, totes and bowling bags! My Favourite being the Hiller Leather Hobo. £350

Over the last couple of weeks I have got my hands on some 'mini' Marc Jacobs accessories, but this only seems to be feeding my obsession.

As sad as it seems I'd been looking around for a nice keyring for a while, and I came across this on Ebay! The Navy snake skin effect leather is gorgeous and on trend, and I defiantly had to have this! The strap also un-pop's so its great for attatching in your bag to save the panic of not being able to find your keys!

The popper and key loop are both in inscripted with 'Marc Jacobs'

Talking of inscriptions, I also purchased a latin inscripted stack ring, from the Special Items collection. These are only availible to buy from the Marc by Marc Jacobs Boutiques, but I managed to find one online which I ordered from america, which also came with a cute little Marc Jacobs paper bag too.

They come in 6 different inscriptions, the one I have says 'Tibi in Omne Tempus' which means 'For You Forever' so these would also make a great gift for a loved one? The ring also has Marc Jacobs inscripted on the inside. I love the ring as its so simple, it looks perfect with anything, but the inscription just gives it a slightly more quirky edge. The collection also includes great unisex leather bracelets that also have the same inscriptions.

I also bought a little gift for my mac (it makes yourself feel better if you're buying for someone/something else right?) The Marc Jacobs 13inch Jumble Logo laptop case, which will keep my Mac nice and snug for its travels! The case is made from neoprene with a soft faux fur lining. £35-£55 (depending on size and style)

You can purchase these from Harvey Nichols as well as the new cases featuring the plaque logo. I decided to go for this one as I thought it was a little more understated, and simple.

And it doesn't stop there! I also currently have my eye on a Marc Jacobs oversized logo watch, They come in white, black or purple, but I am really loving the white watch trend at the moment. You also have a choice of silver, gold or white gold trims, depending on what colour jewellery you want it to go with. £150-£179 I personally love them all!

I think everyone needs a white watch in their collection, as they're such a chic accessory, perfect for spring and summer. These oversized Marc Jacobs watches are defiantly worth the investment.
Marc Jacobs also does Toy style watches, inspired by the famous Chanel ceramic J12.
Be sure to take a look at the watch range ideal for this summer.

I think its fair to say I'm in love when it comes to Marc Jacobs! and I will defiantly be investing in some more (maybe not so mini) items in the future..
